MPRD NEXT is the forward-looking initiative born out of the 2025–2029 Five-Year Master Plan—Mooresville’s roadmap for building the parks, programs, and community spaces of tomorrow. As Mooresville continues to grow, the community’s needs, expectations, and recreation trends are evolving. MPRD NEXT ensures our parks rise to meet those changes with thoughtful investment, sustainable planning, and enhanced amenities that reflect our shared values of Inclusion, Creativity, Growth, and Innovation.

A Plan Shaped by Community Voices

The Master Plan process engaged hundreds of residents through surveys, pop-ups, stakeholder meetings, and open houses, revealing clear themes for the next five years:

• Improved maintenance and facility upgrades

• Expanded trail connectivity throughout town

• Environmental stewardship and natural resource protection

• New and modernized amenities, from playgrounds to restrooms to active recreation spaces

• Increased accessibility and universal design to ensure parks serve users of all abilities

MPRD NEXT translates these priorities into real projects happening now and planned for the coming years.

About Us

Today, Mooresville Parks manages more than 184 acres of parkland and open space, and 3.1 miles of paved trails/greenways, and provides hundreds of recreational programs, activities, and special events throughout the year. Mooresville Parks currently serves customers residing in the corporate limits of the Town, as well as customers from the surrounding unincorporated areas; however, only those residents located in the Town limits contribute to the park system through property taxes.
